Also known as pommes dauphinoise, this is a classic French side dish for a dinner party.
Ingredients:
- Potatoes
- Milk
- Cream
- Nutmeg
- Garlic
- Salt
- Pepper
- Parmesan
Instructions:
- Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees C
- Thinly slice potatoes and place in pot
- Add milk to just cover potatoes
- Chop 2 cloves garlic and add to pot
- Add freshly ground pepper and salt
- Add freshly ground nutmeg (about 1/2 a nut)
- Place a lid on the pot and bring to a boil
- Reduce heat to low after it comes to a boil for 10 min
- Use slotted spoon to place potatoes in oven dish
- Pour in milk mixture, about 1 layer below the top
- Add a bit of cream
- Grate fresh Parmesan over the top and place in oven for 30 min
