Gluhwein recipe

Perfect winter warmer, especially during the festive season.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bottle red wine
  • 200 ml of orange juice
  • 50 ml of cognac
  • 50 ml of Cointreau
  • 1 cinnamon stick (broken in 1/2)
  • 4 juniper berries
  • 4 cloves
  • 2 tbsp of sugar
  • 1 orange cut into slices
  • Grating of nutmeg

Instructions:

  • Add wine, orange juice, Cointreau, and cognac into large pot and stir
  • Add cinnamon stick (broken in 1/2), nutmeg, juniper berries, cloves, sugar
  • Heat on low 5 mins (DON’T LET IT BOIL)
  • Add orange slices
  • Stir occasionally to ensure sugar dissolves thoroughly
