Books for the foodie in your life

Unlike my father, the foodie who has everything, I can usually rustle up a few ideas for a birthday wishlist… a new cook book, or a mezzaluna, or a laptop that isn’t as slow as the one I’m writing on now perhaps. But for those of you whose friends and relations are a little less helpful (read: demanding) when it comes to gift suggestions, you could do worse than to lay your hands on one of my latest favourite foodie hardbacks:

‘Table Talk’ by AA Gill is to be savoured one morsel at a time, preferably whilst in bed with a cappuccino and a croissant on a Sunday morning (believe me, even smug newlyweds have nothing better to be doing – Gill is better than sex. Well, almost).

‘How to be a better foodie’ by Sudi Pigott is a chocolate-covered strawberry of a book that looks quite delectable. I haven’t read that much yet, but there’s a quiz on page 10, and everyone loves a good quiz.
