I was reading an article about food trends in Amsterdam on Friday, and it mentioned restaurants that only sell one dish: meatballs, for instance, or spaghetti, or – in this case – burgers. Although Burgermeester actually sells around ten burgers, the concept is very simple: choose your burger (either one large one or a couple of mini ones), order and pay at the checkout, wait ten minutes, and ta-daa! Sheer burger pleasure.
I tried three minis: a beef burger with roasted vegetables, another beef with a truffle-egg salad, and a lamb burger with onion compote. The meat was just cooked, succulent and dripping with goodness. The toppings were well thought out, different and moreish. The service fast, friendly and efficient.
