A little plug here for the latest initiative of one of my all-time food heroes: Jamie Oliver.
Mr Oliver has correctly recognised that the organic transfer of culinary knowledge from generation to generation is being lost in the UK, and I’m sure the same could be said of the Netherlands. In response, Jamie has launched a movement known as ‘Pass it on’, which is part of his new series and book, the ‘Ministry of Food’.
The aim is to teach a recipe you know to as many friends as you like, and for them to pass that recipe on in turn to their friends. In doing so, we’ll create a network of people who know how to cook, who can then continue to transfer their knowledge to their families and friends. Sounds like a good plan to me.
Needless to say, I’m all signed up and ready to teach people to cook! Feeling extra-inspired, I’ve also decided to publish a monthly ‘seasonality’ posting: each month you’ll find my ideas for what to cook now…
